HAPPY 200th Birthday, Abe

My scrapbook of Lincoln Remembrances

Project Plan

Materials Needed:   boxes of Lincoln pictures, Lincoln text comments, organized;  construction paper to mount pictures; oak tag board to make covers for scrapbooks; glue scissors; writing tools (markers); paper-punch to prepare pages and covers for binding;    If available, we could use plastic strip bindings to make a really nice book.  Otherwise, the paper-punch and then yarn to bind the scrapbook.

Procedures:

1.  A short explanation of what the scrapbook should look like will be presented.  A sample will be shown.  Three display boards with similar Lincoln pictures in chronological order (numbered and indexed) will be available for later reference in "assembling" the scrapbook.

2.  An outline of Lincoln's life and the people involved will be provided to help organize the pages.  The three display boards will also help to tell when to place what picture, who is the picture of, and what's going on.  A time-line will be used in this process.

2.  Boxes of pictures and textual comments will be provided for students to take and then assemble in their own scrapbook pages.

3. A cover will be planned by students, using tag board and possible pictures.

4. Time for picture placement, double-checking to be accurate, and then gluing and starting to write the text comments.

IF NOT FINISHED TODAY:

The student may finish up or add to the scrapbook at home by gathering additional pictures, more details.
