Lincoln Family Pageant Demonstration

The Language of the Fan

Plain Wooden Fans

From the Legacy Trunk, Lincoln’s Home Memorial, Springfield

To perform the language of the fan, have children (probably girls) make very colorful folded lap fans with 8X10 paper.  Both sides should be richly decorated.  It looks even better to fasten two fans together.  The students can then practice the language of the fan, and perhaps a group can do it together with one of the students narrating each fan message.
