SCIENCE AND GEOLOGY:   VOLCANOES
What you are to do to become an amateur Volcanologist:

1.  Complete the Volcano crossword puzzle to get familiar with scientific volcano words.

2.  Answer Questions #1 through #10.   Use the Volcanoes resource sites, including Enchanted Learning: Volcanoes, to find the answers to these questions:  Click Here for the questions.

3.  Go to Volcano World:  Kids Door Site and do the various activities within this fun site.


4.  Choose what you think is the scariest and most interesting type of Volcano and make a poster to show how it forms and blows its top.  Go to Scott Rowlands' Volcano Type Site to find out about the five types of volcanoes.


5.  Make a Volcano Notebook to put all your answers, vocabulary puzzle, and your puzzle. 


6.  Have your teacher do the "Magma" experiment to see how magma moves around in the earth's mantle.


7.  Do the projects from
Project Earth Science: Geology from the National Science Teachers Association:  p. 100-125, including:  Volcanoes and Plates; Volcanoes and Magma; Volcanoesand Hotspots.


8.  Have your teacher complete the "Amateur Volcanologist" Certificate of Recognition.
