a. You will be given a booklet with a set of articles about intelligence of various animals, and humans.  Read the articles making sure you understand all new words encountered.

b.  Draw two numbers from the Theme Pot.  Record these numbers and then go back to the article booklets.  The numbers are the article numbers you will work on.

c.  Answer the questions for the articles that you drew from the Theme Pot.  If there is another activity to do, instead of a question, do that also.

d.  I will want good answers with two or three sentences or more for each.  If the answers are too short and do not answer the question, you will go back, re-read the article and improve the answers. 

The number of Points you will get depends upon the quality of your answers.

We are going to study the Properties of Multiplication, as part of our Pre-Algebra.

a.  Go to the SparkNotes section on Properties of Multiplication and go through it.

b.  What do these properties mean?  Associative, Identity, Zero Product, Distributive Property of Multiplication over Addition.    Make a 4-part chart to define the properties.  Also include examples of problems or equations with your chart.  You may use examples from Sparknotes.

c.  Go to the Theme Sheet file and get the Power Math sheets to do as homework.  Bring them back and include them in your final Culmination Packet.

Your number of points on this section will be based upon your definitions and examples of the properties, and upon 100% correct answers on the Power Math papers.

Use Internet Google Search, or World Book Online and look up either the honey bee or the ant.  Look through the article(s) and find out about these animal's remarkable social skills.  Write a one-page story about the ant or the honey bee colony, and how they socialize.  How is their community organized?  What do they do special to get/make food and reproduce?
