A Fence Building Adventure

A Learning On-Line Resource Page by Howard Taylor

B.F. McClerren made a visit to my old school in Illinois and together with Middle School students
actually split rails and  constructed a rustic "real" red oak rail fence.

Here are some Photos of that event, including WAND TV Scott England

The 19th Century technology of building a sturdy rail fence, was combined with digital images, webpage creation (by kids), research, and of course much computing.  The computing for the making of  the design for this fence came from the mind of B.F. McClerren.  Mr. Taylor's biggest task was deciding how long and high we wanted the fence.  Each rail was "very heavy."

WAND TV (Decatur, Illinois)  Reporter, Scot England, was present to record and interview the event at Herrick, Illinois
